Hi: I%26#39;m planning to visit Cape May (1st time) with my little dog next month and am looking for a comfortable, safe, and quiet place. I hope we can take lots of long walks around the town and on the beach. Highland House has my attention, and they have an informative web site, but I%26#39;m not finding any reviews. Does anyone have advice about staying at Highland House?
Thanks.
Any thoughts about Highland House?
HELLO, DID you go to the Highland House? I am planning on going there for 3 nights in October.
Any thoughts about Highland House?
I%26#39;m staying at Highland House in early October without any information about it other than the inn%26#39;s website (which looks very nice). Was really hoping to hear some feedback from other people, especially those who travel with their dog. Maybe I%26#39;ll be the first one to post an opinion about it after all! Enjoy your stay.
Hello!
Have a great time and let me know how you and your doggie make out. I hope it%26#39;s wonderful.
Lisa
I just returned after two nights at The Highland House in Cape May. This is not a ';luxury'; inn by any means, but it is clean and comfortable, in a great location, with a good breakfast. Not every room has TV, refrigerator, microwave, so be careful when you book that you get what you want. (The web site gives accurate descriptions of the accommodations.) There are many nice touches that make it warm and home-like. I would highly recommend Highland House to anyone who wants to stay in Cape May with their dog(s).
Hi Foslo! Thanks for the info on the Highland house. Was you dog allowed in other areas of the house or just the room?
Is this house within walking distance of shops or the beach?
Thanks!
Hi: Highland House is in a fine quiet location just north of West Perry Street on Broadway (that%26#39;s where Perry Street becomes Sunset Blvd. ) Mangia Mangia is on one corner, Godmothers is on another corner, Vanthia is on the other corner. Wilbraham Park is on another corner. I realized while walking my dog that Jackson Street, Washington Mall, etc., are within easy walking distance, as is the beach.
It seems dogs are welcome anywhere in the house. There is only one ';common area'; in Highland House, and that is the dining room. There is also a large front porch. Sammy is a 12 pound Bichon, so I was able to take him through the house easily. I crated him in my upstairs room (the Green Room) while I ate breakfast downstairs only because he loves to eat, and I didn%26#39;t want him to sniff the food and become a nuisance. In our room, he was quite comfortable... I kept a sheet on top of the bed so he could lie there and not disturb the nice bed cover.
There are two efficiencies with private entrances in the back of the house. These seem to be more suitable for larger dogs. The yard is fenced in with lots of flowers and shrubs, although I%26#39;m not sure the fence is completely secure (My Sammy would probably find an opening).
I was impressed with the cleanliness of the place. We enjoyed walking the immediate neighborhood and, as I said, we were in the heart of Cape May within minutes.
Let me know if you need more info. I really liked it there.
