We wanted to try Priceline for Jersey City in early August. Reading other posts, it appears that only a small area of Jersey City is good for tourists. I realize there is no guarantee, but is it likely to win 4* or 3* Priceline hotels in questionable areas, or are most centered in the same place as the Hyatt? (It is difficult to find which hotels are typically assigned, as there is no separate list for Jersey City . Most are hidden with all other New Jersey cities). I have only seen the following:
Doubletree, Hyatt, Courtyard(Marriott).
Has anyone else seen others?
priceline and jersey city
I%26#39;ve gone to NYC twice this year and stayed in Jersey City (Newport area). It%26#39;s a great 3-4 star, safe, not so crowded place to stay for a fair price! Both times I booked rooms on Priceline, requesting a 2 or 3 star and ended up at The DoubleTree the 1st time and Candlewood Suites the 2nd time. Both were great, very spacious rooms that would accomodate 2-3 people for around $100 -$125 a night. You can get to NYC by the Ferry boat ($5) or the PATH ($1.50), both just a block or two from the hotels.
Avoid requesting a 1 star hotel - some by the Holland tunnel are not so safe or nice.
