We%26#39;re deciding between Steak 38 and Old Waterway for dinner .

We were in AC for LAbor Day , stayed over on that Monday night . Mary won almost as much as I lost -lol. We were walking from Showboat to Resorts and passed Bubba Mac and his wife having dinner outside at The Hard Rock Cafe !

We had a room in the Bayview Tower at Harrah%26#39;s and the constuction noise wasn%26#39;t bad at all on the 8th floor . I was suprised that the hotel was booked solid !

We stayed in a room in the Bayview Tower (facing the construction) the Friday after Labor Day. We were on the 18th floor I think. Didn%26#39;t bother us but they did start driving in piles at about 9AM but that should not last long (I would think).

Tell me about Steak 38??? We%26#39;ll be down next week for a long weekend for our anniversary and looking to go out to dinner probably at least one night in AC.

Since I have easy access to the original Steak 38, I suggest The Old Waterway for dinner. Plus, the weather is still pleasant and they offer a waterview deck for dining. It is an excellent view is of the AC skyline. The service is great %26amp; the menu offers a wide variety - even the early-bird dinner is excellent here [MUST be seated and order before 6pm for early-bird]. 609-347-1793

unfortunately, it is not in AC, but in Brigantine. I heard rumors that they will provide ';free cab'; service to/from casinos, but you can call them to confrim/deny it 609-266-4400. it%26#39;s about 5 miles from AC boardwalk. The soft shell crabs are excellent [may be out-of-season - soft shell season is the months w/o an ';R'; in them]. The steaks are GREAT and reasonably priced - try the filet w/ bleu cheese. The Steak 38 for 2 is an excellent deal [includes bananas foster]. The bananas foster made tableside are fabulous %26amp; a must for your visit.

Allure - hope you got some sleep as I%26#39;m sure you meant the 23rd, not the 21st! Hope you and Mary have a great time and that Julie doesn%26#39;t have to cancel again. Speaking of which, since you are so plugged into the entertainment end of AC - I noticed on the HOB website that several upcoming shows have been cancelled. I can%26#39;t recall the names of the talent but I thought it seemed odd to see at least three shows cancelled, well in advance of their scheduled dates. What%26#39;s your take on this? Do artists usually cancel because of poor ticket sales or for other reasons? I also noticed that the Gospel Brunch has been moved to a smaller venue and is permanently down to one show instead of the 2 shows they started out with. I always enjoyed the Gospel Brunch but when they changed it to 11 am instead of 1 pm I found it hard to get to. I%26#39;m usually asleep at 11 or frantically trying to pack up.

Just wondering what your thoughts were about the future of HOB in AC. Also curious as to why Manilow sold out almost immediately and Streisand/Elton John are still available

Mary %26amp; I have been to Steak 38 at least a dozen times . They have great early bird specials 4PM -5:30PM , when the atmosphere is a bit more casual .They have a lounge band after 9pm or so . They have valet and self -parking . They offer a free cab FROM your hotel or Casino . Good place for an aniversary dinner .

The Old Waterway is a bit more romantic with a view of the AC skyline , but no band or dance floor . They usually have early bird / nite owl coupons in the AC Weekly . You have to go into the Venice Park section of AC for this . ( Where the new homes are being built off the other side of Rt.30 from the ASPCA ). We%26#39;ve been there at least a half doz. times . Always good !

ACMama You%26#39;re right it%26#39;s the 23rd . Wed is my day for taking Mom to the Tin Lizzie Pub (NYC) . Tend to confuse dates and such afterwards -lol .

I noticed about 4 or 5 cancellations at HOB AC . Don%26#39;t know if these acts cancelled at other HOB locations also . Poor ticket sales can be a reason for HOB to cancel the show. They wan%26#39;t to avoid a bad reputation and negative income . Club Worship has also been doing poorly , and The foundation room is getting little use .

Barry Manilow still has a strong cult following . I think Barbara%26#39;s has lost some power . The last two movies may have hurt her %26#39; diva %26#39; image . Pairing her with Elton may have seemed like it was too much of an '; icons for gays night out '; and has somewhat backfired . I would have put Elton w/ Joan Jet ; and Barbara with Chris Botti or John Piazarelli Jr.

I would have put Elton with Slayer and Barbara with Judas Priest just to make things a little more AGGRESSIVE LOL. Oh ya and also a MOSH PIT for the Fans of course.

Thanks for the good anniversary wishes...it will be 27 and counting a week from today! We%26#39;ll be in Ocean City from next Thursday thru Monday so I know a couple of visits to AC will be in the plans...and even more if we win!!

As to Barbra...remember, she has already done a couple of ';retirement'; tours so perhaps people are burned out. She has also been very politically active in the past couple of years so perhaps that has turned off part of the audience.

We were very surprised how fast Barry sold out. Also very distressed by the number of tickets available on EBAY and elsewhere. The reality may be a lot of empty seats if folks don%26#39;t want to pay the incredible prices some of these on line scalpers have in mind.

There are a ton of '; FAKE TICKETS '; circulating on EBAY and elsewhere. I would never buy a ticket to any show unless it is purchased from an authorized seller or from someone who i know purhased them from the same source.

BTW who would pay around $5000.00 for Barbara or Stones or Whoever tickets ? Thats how much some are selling ( i think for a pair maybe ) for and also for the NYC shows etc..
