Disappointing Hotel rooms

I was reading over the Hotel reviews here and there are many disappointing reviews especially from The Borgata, The Trop %26amp; More.

I wonder what it is ?

Were the rooms truly that bad as some described ? Or is it one thing or a combination of things that just made their stay miserable and thus refect their negative reviews.

I know everyone has different expectations upon arriving at the hotel especially those who have not stayed there before. As myself i hated the Claridge room i was in last trip for one night and the Garden room to me was just tolerable especially after always staying in the Ballys Tower Rooms.

I just find it interesting that one review of the same hotel is spectacular than the next is just horrible.

One also has to realize that most of the properties are fairly old in AC and the renovating has just recently started and still going on and obviously everyone wants the newly renovated rooms and when someone if forced to stay in a sub par room especially those paying top dollar for it, i certainly agree with them that that is unacceptable.

Also when a hotel does build additional towers maybe alot of their rooms won%26#39;t have ocean views because of the locations of the add on toers etc..

It will surely be interesting to see what happens to the attendance at the Casinos when the new ones start opening in the next few years especially the one being built where The Sands is.

CHEERS !!!!!!

Disappointing Hotel rooms

Term,

I agree with y ou. It%26#39;s very perplexing, and I guess the best thing we can go on is that everyone is different and what is good/excellent to another person is mediocre to another. I guess we have to take every review on here with a grain of salt %26amp; realize it is the posters personal review. And the old adage, different strokes for different folks. What one person may pay $250 nite for and deem as ';top notch'; another may walk in %26amp; go, ';what, are you kiddin%26#39; me?'; I guess that is the beauty of America! I wish we could all get closer to a more unified hotel rating concept it would remove a lot of guesswork.

CHEERS!

Hope we get to meet someday over a few beers or a slot!

Disappointing Hotel rooms

Which room or casino is considered good or bad depends upon both the experience and the experiencer. Everybody%26#39;s definition of a reality can be different. As a Nobel Prize winner once pointd out: We don%26#39;t know what a given viewer sees in an artwork. One sees images, another sees the colors, another the frame, another the placement upon the wall. No way of knowing until we get their responses. So it seems with reviews of AC here.

I%26#39;ve been lucky. Never had a real bad experience in AC, except for contributing to the casino upkeep a little more than I had hoped to do. I, and members of our group, have been in rooms in every casino in AC for over 100 stays. None of us ever had a room experience that could be called bad. Maybe if we paid big $ like some do there would have been some complaints. Fortunately, the rooms were comped, or, if we paid, (rarely), it was always under $100, so cost was never a factor.

I just returned from an overnighter at Showboat. Since my rooms are always comped, I rarely complain about them. Probably the only thing that would get me going is really poor cleanliness or extreme shabbiness, but again, I%26#39;m not paying $400 a night. If I post a trip report with adverse comments on a room, it isn%26#39;t that I%26#39;m complaining as much as I am trying to give other folks a realistic picture of what they can expect for their money.

My room this time was on the 7th floor of the Bourbon Tower. My host knows I like even numbered rooms in the Bourbon Tower because of the ocean view. However, the huge air conditioning tower was directly outside my window as we were not on a high enough floor. I could have complained - but why? Truth be told, I am rarely in the room long enough to enjoy the view. Also, the Bourbon Tower construction is now on the 18th floor and I know they wanted me to be as far away from the noise as possible. So, what I would report here is that you need to be above the 7th floor if you are staying in the Bourbon Tower. This info might be useful to someone else who is maybe going to spend a couple hundred bucks to stay there.

I do think that many of the bad reviews for casino hotels are coming from those who paid big bucks for their rooms, then lost money in the casino and feel ripped off. People seem to have a higher level of expectation given the price of these rooms, but I really think a lot has to do with the fact that they are going to be spending serious money in the hotel casino, what with gambling and restaurants, and I think this makes them extra fussy about the room.

ACMama

ACMAMA i agree with you 110% thats the bottom line.

CHEERS!!!!!!!

I just returned from the Borgata. I was comped for a fri and sat. night, so my price was right. (of course after my husband was through, they were mighty expensive rooms, lol). I wrote my review of the hotel, not based on a comp, or my losing, but on the truth of what I saw, so that people who spend 500 a night, know what to expect. I was in a regular classic room. Pretty decor, and clean. The bathroom was very nice. However, I added that my actual room wasn%26#39;t really much better than a good hampton inn. It was really only the bathroom that was special. We just weren%26#39;t really that impressed. Maybe I was expecting more, because of all the things I had heard about it. I did notice that a lot of people complained about the staff being rude. We didn%26#39;t find that, we did find however, that they were on the cold side. Questions were answered politely, and promptly, but never with a smile or warmness. When I went over to Harrahs for a few hours, I was made to feel like someone special just for walking in their door. I do agree with some of the others here though, that some people are probably so ticked off at their losses, that they can%26#39;t find anything good to say. Me, I like to just give a rundown, of the room, period.

%26#39;

I think your right about the '; HYPE FACTOR ';. When a new property emerges like the Borgata who is coining itself as upscale / Where the real players play / their Clubs boasting Celebrities etc... people really look forward to something really special.

When it%26#39;s not up to their expectations for whatever reasons maybe from the smallest things to maybe things that are a genuine complaint it ruins their whole trip, most likely especially when someone loses a large amount of money.

If i was to pay prices $250.00 and up i would be expecting something pretty darn special. Also, even though someone gets their rooms comped but loses a large amount of money that could also factor in a really negative review for that property including Room, Food, Service etc...

Thankfully i now get comped Rooms, Food, Shows etc...

so losing x amount of money isn%26#39;t too bad. But i still expect a decent room etc.. not like the '; BASEMENT '; Claridge room Bally%26#39;s stuck me in last trip.

CHEERS !!!!!!!!

Some people look at a room as ';just a room';, while others (like those at the Borgata, for sure) look at it as part of the overall experience. Different levels of expectations, for sure.

The high weekend and summer rates definitely do not lower expectaions for the rooms, even for casual, unpicky guests.

Terminator and ACMama.... I agree that it%26#39;s hard to complain about comped rooms. However, it%26#39;s a bit insulting to your ego as a *player* to be put in rooms like the ones at at the Claridge Tower.

Bud_Dry, Actually the Claridge rooms are exactly what one wants after losing a large chunk of cash as it goes hand in hand with the dark, depressive feeling that one already has LOL.

CHEERS !!!!!!!!
