Trip Report, Bally's, 8/18

My August trip to Vegas was cancelled because of family obligations. So on the way back north from Ocean City, MD, and said family obligations, I took a day to myself. Instead of making the four-hour drive north to Pennsylvania, I took the Lewes-Cape May across and stopped in Atlantic City. It was a great way to save an hour and relax on the ferry instead of driving.

I quickly pulled into the Bally%26#39;s garage, annoyed at having forgotten my free parking pass ($5 charge), but settled in quickly around 2:30 p.m. at my favorite nickel VP machine in the Wild Wild West casino. I ordered a gin and tonic and waited. And waited. And played. And no drink.

An hour went by ... still no cocktail. No waitresses anywhere, on a Friday afternoon no less.

Finally got my drink from a different waitress and she came back with another 15 minutes later. My luck turned. I lost about $20 the first hour. The second hour I put in another $20 and was up and down and up and down.

Until whammo ... hit a royal flush and won $200. I decided to quit while I was ahead. (For once.)

I headed over to the noodle bar in Bally%26#39;s and had dumpling soup. Yum. Then a 25-cent progressive VP machine caught my eye. Never played before, but I put in $20, playing about 15 credits at a time, and 1/2 an hour later was up. Cashed out at $27. Whoopee!

Wandered over to Claridge%26#39;s. While in Bally%26#39;s I was thinking about playing craps, curious to see if I could find a $5 table. I knew it was a long shot. Nada. All $10 and up. Wondering if Claridge even has table games???? Couldn%26#39;t see any. Sat down at another progessive VP machine and promptly lost $20 in five minutes.

By then it was 7:30. I had enough. Used some comps to buy an iced coffee and hit the road.

Five hours, in and out. Shortest time I%26#39;ve ever spent there!

The Claridge has table games on the first floor. You have to go down alot of escalators to get to them if you cross over from Bally%26#39;s.

YES there are table games in the Claridge on the FIRST floor, the floor below Pennyville ! :-)
