Show at the Borgata - Nick Lachey

Hi. I%26#39;m taking a friend and my 2 daughters to AC in October for my birthday, 10/8. We%26#39;re staying Saturday and Sunday nights. Usually I run down by myself when it%26#39;s my birthday, but don%26#39;t have anyone to watch the girls this time. Anyway....

I just bought tickets to take my 13-yr. old daughter to see Nick Lachey, she is dying to see him. (not I). Suggestions? The show starts at 8. What time do we get there to stand in line? Also, the only %26#39;seats%26#39; available were standing, general admission. It looks like he%26#39;s not a big draw, the tickets were only $35.

We%26#39;ll be staying at Bally%26#39;s.

thanks,

Jean

Show at the Borgata - Nick Lachey

Jean8... I believe Borgata has changed how they do things, and I am assuming it%26#39;s for all shows now and not just certain ones. When I went to see a show in May, apparently there were people who got wristbands of some sort who had received them earlier in the day so that they could come back later. I got there just before showtime with no intention of standing close to the stage, so that is why I%26#39;m not positive.

Their policy before was to tell people they could line up at a certain time (no wristbands were given out), then let them line up at a different, earlier time than was announced, making a lot of people angry.

My best suggestion to you, Jean, is to call Borgata to make sure of the exact policy. But I do believe you can get to the Borgata early in the day and get some kind of numbered wristband so you and your daughter don%26#39;t have to wait around hoping to get close to the stage.

Show at the Borgata - Nick Lachey

Hi Jean~~Not much response to your post. I hope I%26#39;m not the only one scratching my head. Some things should be pointed out. Can%26#39;t you think of a better place to take your daughters on your birthday? AC IS mostly an ADULT, (over21), playground on Saturday nights. Why is a 13 year old ';dying'; to see a divorced 33 year old? Aren%26#39;t there any more inspiring people you can direct her to see? I hope she%26#39;s also dying to do great in school as I guess she%26#39;s about to start high school.

Which line at the Borgata on Saturday nights are you referring to? The line to park or the line for the show? Just make sure you wear your standing shoes.

If you play after the show, please don%26#39;t leave your daughters in the car. Have a happy birthday.

Okay. Yes, there are other performers and performances that she likes to go to. We regularly attend musicals here at home and in NYC. She loves Cats, Phantom of the Opera, anything with music.

As for Nick Lachey, as I was planning on being in AC (I%26#39;m over 21) for my birthday, I thought this time I%26#39;d bring the girls for the weekend. They love swimming in the hotels%26#39; pools, like the restaurants, like the boardwalk. it%26#39;s a change. They spend hours at the beach, collecting shells and horsing around. They do the arcades.

All of my daughter%26#39;s friends like the rap and hip-hop music that I find so offensive. She also listens to it. It%26#39;s not %26#39;music%26#39;, not to me, with my love of classical, and of classical rock.

So I don%26#39;t mind bringing her to see NL, it%26#39;s my choice. She did want to see %26#39;Black-Eyed Peas%26#39;. (no) Perhaps if she was not a good student (8th grade, she just turned 13 in August) I wouldn%26#39;t take her to this concert.

For the record, we vacation a lot. This weekend we stayed in Lenox MA, during the summer we spent a week in the Poconos, and a week in Maine. Next weekend we%26#39;ll be in Providence for 2 nights. The following weekend we%26#39;ll be back in MA.

I will not respond to the %26#39;leaving kids in the car%26#39; part of your post.

Jean

Bud Dry - thanks for the tips, I%26#39;ll ask about the wristband policy.

Jean

Jean~~It%26#39;s a pleasure to see answers like yours. Sorry, if I sounded like a crank, but I was moved to make some comments because lots of others read these posts. From what I%26#39;ve seen recently, I didn%26#39;t want people to think the Borg is a good place for underage people on a saturday night. I realize some recent casino shows are appealing to younger and younger people. The results are not always good. A competent bartender would never serve any of the youths I%26#39;ve seen stoned on weekend nights in casinos recently; and it%26#39;s evident it%26#39;s not all from alcohol. It%26#39;s obvious foreigners are not the only one%26#39;s with false ID%26#39;s these days.

Two weeks ago we got stuck in a 2 hour line trying to get back into the parking lot at the Borg on Saturday night. So I also suggest getting there early if you want to make the show.

Again, thanks for your response. I believe anything we can add here to encourage people to be more thoughful is worthwhile. Have a good and safe trip. Post a trip report. I trust many readers here will find your experience informative.

easy

I understand your concerns, how could you know if I%26#39;m not one of those parents who leaves their kids in cars? I actually saw it done at the Mohegan Sun recently, and reported it to a security person. I was walking in from the garage very early one morning, and passed their car. Sick.

I did read your recent post about the parking, and wondered if the car was still in the same spot where you had left it. %26lt;g%26gt;

I%26#39;m actually a pretty protective mom. I would rather Take her to a concert where I%26#39;ll be by her side, than let her go with friends or even with friends and Their parents.

thanks, easy

Jean have a great time in AC %26amp; by the sounds of it your children also love AC. Hopefully as they get older they will keep the tradition of the many families that keep coming back to AC for many years to come. I just hope that whats left for familes to do will remain and get bigger not smaller.

Good for you for reporting that inncident to security at Mohegan Sun. No matter how many times you read about this it still continues to happen all over.

Have a great time in AC with the Fam.

CHEERS !!!!!!!!!!

Thank you jean~~I%26#39;m sure your clarifications are appreciated by a lot more than me. Thanks for sharing what you saw at Mohegan Sun. It should help to make us all a little more watchful for these sad doings.

The car was OK! Probably the best bet we made all day. LOL

Have a very Happy Birthday celebration with your group!

Actually Nick Lachey is a very ';G'; rated performer whose fan base is 13 y.o. girls . Being married didn%26#39;t stop 13 y.o. girls from swooning over Paul McCartney .

I would think the teens smuggling drinks before a concert would apply more to concerts with a more 15 and and up boy heavy following , such as Slipknot .

While A.C. is an Adult playground , there should be plenty to do for a 13 y.o. considering she%26#39;s going to a concert .

Hi Jean!!!

I%26#39;ve met Jean and her kids--she is an awesome mom!! And her kids are beautifully mannered well behaved children. Trust me, there%26#39;s no trace of child neglect going on here!!!

I hope you have a GREAT time. I%26#39;m going down the weekend of 10/20-21.

I%26#39;m going again in November--same time, same place. If you%26#39;re down there I%26#39;d love to see all of you.

Happy Birthday!
