Red Roof Inn cash fraud

Last stay at the Red Roof Inn was put on credit card on reservation, but paid in cash on exit...staff gave a receipt for credit card, which meant that a month later the card had been billed. Red Roof Inn main office refuses a refund, since there is no receipt for cash, nor did the staff for the day of our check-out report a discrepancy in cash received. All this means is that we paid for our room twice and were out of luck to get the monies refunded. Another Red Roof Inn on the West Coast later tried the same trick, but that time we were more savvy and caught the mistake before were taken for fools.

stay away.

You didn%26#39;t ask for a receipt when you paid in cash????

I print out reservation confirmation emails, etc. when reserving rooms online.

I ask for receipts for everything when I check out. Every hotel I%26#39;ve every stayed at does this.

And I have stayed at Red Roof Inns.

Have you disputed it with your credit card?

we got a receipt, but it was difficult to interpret since the room had been secured with a credit card. so my friend, who paid and got the receipt never questioned the line item%26#39; credit card%26#39; vs cash, since it matched the total he paid in cash, and he assumed the receipt listed credit card as a statement regarding the original reservation.

disputing credit card company was no use, since the receipt had been issued with the wrong payment method, ergo, we never paid cash, even when we did.

the bottom line is that the staff was dishonest, and the system is so flawed, that another location could try to pull the same woolly one over our eyes, and the home office for the company couldn%26#39;t care less. once again, i suggest you just stay away. there are better, honest places for the same money everywhere.

I have no idea what you just wrote...

simple:

1)room secured with credit card

2)room paid for in cash instead

3)staff gives receipt that says payment received in ';credit card';

4)error noticed only once the bill arrives a month later

5)call to hotel who says ';not our problem';

6)rooms paid twice since hotel billed the credit card and kept the cash

-----which must have gone into the %26#39;tip jar'; for the staff, since no extra cash was ever reported to accounting.

nice tip, uh?

just don%26#39;t support this company. they hire thieves, and support theft as a company.
