Another reason AC is a better bet

And they say the mob was bad. Another reason to not celebrate before the check clears at an Indian casino. No outside agency can investigate them, as they are outside any state or local control. Only the federal government can deal with them as a foreign nation!

';Freddy Howard was showered with all the glamour and glory he had ever dreamed of.

The struggling actor had just won a $260,000 jackpot at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel %26amp; Casino near Hollywood in the early hours of Aug. 29.

…Then, managers at the hotel told him it was all a mistake.

…The Hard Rock, as part of the Seminole Indian reservation, is considered a sovereign nation -- so it isn%26#39;t governed by state or local law. So Howard may have no place to turn.';

Another reason AC is a better bet

I just read the article and what i read made me sick. What a RIP OFF. If this is the same Hard Rock Chain it is really bad business. They don%26#39;t give any explanation into what happened all they say is that there was a machine malfunction. I really feel bad for this guy.

I would never play at a casino that wasn%26#39;t governed by a seperate state gaming commission etc.. I guess if you want to take your chances and spend your hard earned dollars at a casino that governs itself is your business but for me I THINK NOT.

There is a really good website that is dedicated to online poker sites and exposing them for cheating etc.. and i was very surprised that almost all of these online poker sites are servers that are situated on a native reserve and that they govern themselves etc..

People should really research these online sites and think twice before they start playing for real money online. From all the articles and peoples stories i read i wouldn%26#39;t play a nickle online.

Another reason AC is a better bet

The first casino I ever went to was an Indian casino in Florida. I was on vacation with my sister in South Beach and we thought it would be cool to go to one. It wasn%26#39;t, we hated it and stayed about 1/2 hour. The place was dirty and all the machines were hand pay only. So even if you won $0.15, you had to get someone to bring you your money.

Can you believe that was only 4 years ago? LOL After that first awful experience I don%26#39;t quite know what made me fly to Vegas a year later.

This is just another the way that people get screwed by their ';morals-watching'; state governments. The majority of the states with Indian casinos don%26#39;t allow privately owned casinos by reputable companies. So the people of these states go to the Native American casinos because it%26#39;s convenient, not realizing that the payback percentages are low on the machines, and that they have no recourse (like the guy in the article) if there%26#39;s a dispute. The Native American casinos don%26#39;t have to post their payback percentages, and can generally set them to anything they want.

Even for card players, the situation is bad. Since there is no oversight of the games, there%26#39;s nothing keeping the tribes from removing some of the cards in the deck. This has happened in Florida and Arizona Native American casinos, where it was found out some of the blackjack games had fewer 10%26#39;s/face cards in the decks. (It is easier for a dealer to make more hands with more small cards than picture cards, hence a bigger win for the casino)

Moral of the story: Indian casinos should not be patronized by anyone expecting a fair shake. Just my opinion...

I read the article in the Miami Herald and checked the results of a poll they are conducting among their viewers. 91% said the casino should pay him.

I also read the comments readers were making about the case. Almost every person thought a boycott of the casino was the best remedy for the situation. They hope the casino will lose enough business to compensate for the poor guy%26#39;s loss.

What about the casinos in Connecticut? has there been any suggestion that they are not perhaps the best place to go for a gambler to get a fair shake? .

Sure, if you have a problem there you can take it to the UN. LOL

Is it any wonder they make so much money? With no independent Commission, like in AC, to give some monitoring and oversight, sure seems a bad bet for the customer.

CasinoSlotQueen

If a boycott would work that would be awesome, they would lose so much money in so little time that they would be begging the fellow to take the check back.

It%26#39;s just too bad that the reality is that a boycott would never happen. Most people just seem to brush off these incidents but if it would ever happen to them LOOK OUT LOL.

I guess never say never as i%26#39;m sure nobody would have bet that the AC Casinos would have ever been shutdown completely.

Lets all hope for that boycott.

CHEERS !!!!!!!!!

I went to Miami in April %26amp; went to this casino. They only have slots and poker-there are no table games, and at every slot machine there is also a bingo game going on above your head-you can change your tickets to get different numbers. Every few minutes you%26#39;ll win a few pennies or as much as 11 cents! The machines are incredibly tight, and they are only in .05, .10, .25 and $1 denominations. We had the cab ride from hell, so at 1:30 pm when the waitress came around I said I%26#39;ll have a Bud lite. She said that%26#39;ll be $3.25 I looked at her %26amp; I said um, I%26#39;m from Connecticut (Like this is going to get me a beer hahaha) she said we charge for alcohol %26amp; I said oh, well, I%26#39;ll have a bottled water then-she says-we charge for that too I said this is going to be a LONG nite. By 9:30 at nite (and this was a Wednesday in April) you couldn%26#39;t move or find a free machine in the place. Think AC on a Sat nite in the middle of the summer. It was ridiculous. I hope they pay this man.

A friend of mine fell at Mohegan Sun--another Indian casino here in CT--and was told there was absolutely nothing they could do for him-wouldn%26#39;t help him with his medical bills, comp him a room, nothing. They basically said we%26#39;re a soverign nation go ahead %26amp; sue us %26amp; good luck. Amazing, huh?

Can you imagine all the HORROR STORIES that are out there from these rip off joints.

Can%26#39;t anything be done about this, they are still in the country of the USA.

Boy oh Boy i knew there was a reason why i disconnected myself from every casino and only gamble in AC now. Thats why I still stay with my reasoning of its more than worth it to save for a trip to AC than go to any casinos around my area and drop a few hundred dollars here and there and end up home a few hours later with nothing but loses all the time.

Even though AC is a 10 hour or so drive and the 12 % exchange rate. Where else can i go and get free rooms any day of the week for 3 ,4 nights or more plus free food %26amp; drinks etc... ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE

I LOVE ATLANTIC CITY
