I was just wondering, do most of the shops and restraunts on the boarwalk close down after Labor Day? How about the rest of the area. I was curious if there was anything to do there in the off season other than the beach. Thanks.
Wildwood in the Fall Season
Hey there mambo101.....
We only venture to Wildwood (actually Wildwood Crest) during the Columbus Day long weekend. The prices at most hotels can%26#39;t be beat. For example.....at the Port Royal, it%26#39;s only $400 (plus tax) for a 2 bedroom efficiency with kitchen, etc. for 4 days, 3 nights with breakfast included. Also included is one lunch and one dinner at the hotel%26#39;s restaurant. Kid%26#39;s under 10 stay free (we have 3)....but meals not included. The weather has been delightful in the past....still warm enough for a swim in the heated pool.
This will be our 4th Columbus Day weekend over the past 5 years.
Note, though, that for many/most hotels/motels, this is the last weekend of the season, although some will stay open on the weekends until the Doo Whop weekend towards the end of October.
This is a getaway weekend for us....so we go to Cape May and stroll around, then we spend a day on Wildwood%26#39;s boardwalk and take in some amusement rides, the sights, etc. Perhaps just sit on the beach for an afternoon, then take a dip in the pool. There are miniature golf parks, movie theaters, etc......and most of the resturants are still open.
In other words....plenty to do, and pretty cost effective. It does quiet down quite a bit after the Columbus Day weekend.
