Here is a link to information about Harrah%26#39;s ( A stock holders company) being sold to a private firm .

Maybe this is why the comps have ben cut . To make the bottom line look better on paper .
Harrah's properties being sold ?Interesting story, but I really think the comp issues are more a reaction to the increased pool of card members. We were at Caesar%26#39;s Diamond Club Friday night and Bally%26#39;s Diamond Club yesterday afternoon and the number of folks with Diamond Cards around AC is incredible. When we left Caesar%26#39;s Diamond Club Friday there was a line of folks out in the casino waiting to even get in the door. I think one of the problems is that they really don%26#39;t need us that much any more!

PS - I know that much has been said about recent free room offers from Harrahs lately but my wife and I just got a huge room offer for all the AC properties.
Harrah's properties being sold ?A very interesting story which explains a lot to me about a lot of the goings on with Harrah%26#39;s. I am a shareholder and I have received many updates about the buying and sellling of so many properties it makes my head spin. It seemed to me at times that Harrah%26#39;s didn%26#39;t know where they were going or what they wanted to ';be';; I still think they made a huge marketing mistake with HOB. Interesting to read that they haven%26#39;t been able to tap into the Asian gaming market. I wonder why? They%26#39;ve made herculean efforts in this regard but apparently have not been successful.
As to the comps, I agree with Frank that there are too many Diamond card holders now with the absorption of premium players from Caesar%26#39;s and Bally%26#39;s. They are now trying desperately to buy back comp dollars at the rate of 50 cents on the dollar. Why would anyone be stupid enough to give back their hard earned comp dollars at that ratio when you can buy things with them or at least get a good meal at face value. They are going to have to make the Diamond player level 25,000 points to stop the hemorrhaging. There is too much of a point difference between Diamond (10,000) and Seven Stars (100,000). They have alienated many of their regular players by cheaping out on comps, by basically offering nothing to regular Gold players and by having so many Diamond players being able to line jump at the restaurants, etc. We get almost as many offers from the Tropicana as we do from Harrah%26#39;s (not the same level of quality, but offers nonetheless) even though we virtually never play there.
If this deal goes forward some huge changes are in the works, many of them long overdue. Thanks for the heads-up.
