Hi,
Well, we%26#39;re back from vacation already. Isn%26#39;t that always the fastest moving week of the year? Thanks for all the information we got from the forum board. We visited a lot of the places you suggested although some of the tour sites were closed for the season. We even snuck into the Washington Mall for a brief period -- just long enough to get an ice cream cone from Ben and Jerry%26#39;s and visit a pet shop. It wasn%26#39;t very crowded the day we were there and a lot of people fussed over the well-behaved dogs. The dogs were welcome everywhere we went -- the beach, the bay, the boardwalk, Higbees and Sunset Beach, the Lighthouse, the bird sanctuaries, etc., etc.
Speaking of the dogs, Brodie and Anika had a ball. We rented a house and they had their very own ';Florida'; sun room, where they slept and ate and rested and played and on and on... As it turned out the house was only three places from the Delaware Bay. Other than the day we arrived and the day before we left the weather was beautiful and in the 70%26#39;s.
They loved the ocean and the bay, Brodie (cairn terrier) more so than Anika (keeshond). Brodie loved to chase the waves and bite and lick at them when they came in. He didn%26#39;t mind at all getting wet. It didn%26#39;t take him long to learn to run down to the water%26#39;s edge and wait for the waves to roll in each time we went to the beach -- ocean or bay. He also loved to dig in the sand. Anika would go in and get her feet wet but she was too prissy to get wet all over. She spent most of her time digging in the sand and ';looking'; for seashells. (This surprised us since both of our former keeshonden loved water.)
On one of our trips to the beach, Brodie decided to have his very own Sushi Bar. :):) I kid you not! Soft shelled crabs being a delecacy Brodie decided to dig one up. As soon as I saw it I told him to ';drop it.'; But he completely ignored me and said, no way, and I soon heard a crunching sound. Believe it or not he ate the whole thing. I thought he might get sick later on but he didn%26#39;t. We still laugh about it and it makes a great story to tell our friends.
This was their first trip to the ocean and they really enjoyed themselves. They both loved all the attention they got from other tourists. They were great in the house and, thank God, they had no accidents at all. They%26#39;re always great in the car and ride in travel crates so this was no problem. Just that every couple of hours you heard a little whimper that indicated they needed a potty break.
So ... we%26#39;re already planning a prime location for our next
V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N with the furbutts. Where will we go? Any suggestions?

Vacation in Cape May
Hi! What a great post! I%26#39;m so glad the whole family enjoyed. I wish Sparky shared their enthusiasm about the ocean. When are you planning to go away again? What are you wanting to do for your next trip?
Again - so glad you enjoyed your time in Cape May. We%26#39;re looking forward to going back, too.
