First trip to A.C. end of Oct.

Hi all,

Noob intro. I%26#39;ve been going to Vegas for last 14 years(since I was old enough), hit all the local casinos in Wi, IL, and the UP. I%26#39;m meeting a friend in A.C. last weekend of Oct., don%26#39;t know what to expect. Is it like Freemont st., downtown, or more like the strip?

Hi,

I don%26#39;t feel it is like any of those--with respects to Vegas. I have not been to WI%26lt; IL and the UP. I have only been to CT other than Vegas or AC.

You have an outdoor boardwalk that runs for miles alongside the ';strip';/boardwalk casinos. If the weather is foul, you won%26#39;t want to be out there, and the place will be deserted. The last time I was in AC, they had the remains of tropical storm Ernesto--it was not pretty.

While you are walking along the boardwalk ';strip'; you%26#39;ll hear the pounding of the ocean.....something you won%26#39;t hear in Vegas. You may not find all the shows that you have in Vegas, but you%26#39;ll find a comfortable closeness in knowing you can walk the boardwalk in its entirety and don%26#39;t need a pricey monorail to get from one end to the other should you choose to walk. (Can%26#39;t do that in Vegas if you want to go from the Flamingo to the Convention Center!) And when y ou want to go to the marina side you can pay $2.00 one way to take a Jitney to get there, instead of relying on a vehicle, or worse, have to think about drinking and driving. I love AC, to me it%26#39;s a mini-Vegas with a beach. Hopefully some of the other members on here will provide their opinion.

Ive been to Vegas and AC. I think AC has a different feel to it due to the boardwalk and the beach. I liked Vegas but I really like AC as much!

As previously stated , AC is not at all like Freement st , downtown , or the strip . ( have been going to Vegas yearly for quite some time )

The closet thing there to a ';Mega Hotel'; is the Borgata . This is near the Marina %26amp; not the Beach %26amp; Boardwalk .

I go here frequently %26amp; love the walking on the boardwalk , listening to the surf .

Everything is pretty much easily accessible .

You do not find ';over the top '; as with Vegas . To me it is more of a personable atmosphere .

I suggest renting a bike early in the morning to take in the boardwalk. As most places are not open during biking hours, you can make notes as to places you want to return to. Biking is allowed 6 - 10am.

B%26amp; K Bike Rentals (available in front of the Resorts, Caesars’ and Hilton Hotels) 609-344-8008 From 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. you can pedal the length of the Boardwalk

Hi,

You didn%26#39;t say where you%26#39;re staying, but if it%26#39;s one of the mid-Boardwalk casino/hotels, and the weather%26#39;s bad, be sure to ask about the indoor walkways.

It took us a while to discover them last winter, but they%26#39;re wonderful! You can go from Caesars to Wild Wild West to Bally%26#39;s to Sands without going outside. I think it%26#39;s at least half a mile. (There may even be something from Sands to Resorts, but I never found that.) OTOH, if the weather%26#39;s good, it%26#39;s really fun to walk on the Boardwalk.

Good luck and have fun!

Atlantic City isn%26#39;t like Fremont St. or the strip. It has a totally different feel.

Times Square in NY feels more like the Vegas to me than AC does because of all the neon and large TV displays. AC doesn%26#39;t have all that flash outdoors. There aren%26#39;t any volcanos or light shows or animal exhibits (in the casino areas). But for the most part the casinos are the larger type casino you see on the strip as opposed to the smaller downtown casino.

The casinos also aren%26#39;t as concentrated as in Vegas. You have Sands, Ballys and Caesars midtown. Trump Plaza is a few blocks to your right and Resorts is a few blocks to your left (this is standing in front of Ballys facing the ocean). Further to your right you have the Tropicana (it%26#39;s a pretty long walk to me), further to your left are Taj Mahal and Showboat.

A couple miles away you have some casinos at the Marina, Harrahs, Trump Marina, and Borgota.

I%26#39;ve never been to the AC Hilton, I%26#39;m really not sure where it is.

If I had to compare the ';feel'; of AC to anywhere in Vegas, it would probably be one of the off strip areas that has 3 or 4 casinos within walking distance of each other and some shops.

Of course, there%26#39;s also the whole ocean vs desert thing. lol

Don%26#39;t come to AC expecting Vegas, cause they are totally different. It%26#39;s really hard for me to make comparisons between the two, because really the only thing they have in common is that they both have casinos.
