The closing date for the Sands Casino Hotel will be Friday, Nov. 10, according to Sands’ president George Toth. There will be a stellar line-up of entertainment events, tributes, reunions and surprise guests throughout their remaining days. This Sunday, Jerry Blavat’s Doo Wop Reunion will celebrate the glory days of rock ‘n’ roll with a classic line-up of artists including the Classics, the Dubs, Lenny Cocco and the Chimes, the Harptones and Kid Kyle and His Kool Kats. The final show to be held in the Sands’ Copa Room will be Tony Award Winner Ben Vereen, who will present a brand new Vegas-style song-and-dance tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. on Nov. 4 at 8pm. The Sands is going out in style and guests will have a great time throughout the casino’s remaining days. Come and enjoy the memories and fun.

Considering I played at the Sands only once, I was surprised to get a rather poignent mailing from them announcing their closing and offering up a lot of free gifts etc during the final weeks. I guess they%26#39;ve cleaned out their giveaway warehouse. I thought it was a very classy thing to do and an elegant way to say goodbye to their customers.

I would love to be there for that Tubman, it would be something to see for sure.
