Will AC start targeting Asians ?

I found some interesting facts about the CT Casinos while Googling .

Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun send over 100 buses per week into the Asian markets in NYC ( Chainatown) and Boston . They get a R/T for $10 and it includes up to a $40 gambling credit and a $12 food credit . This is much better than the Atlantic City Deals which are usually $18 to $22 back on a $26 bus ticket .

One in 5 employees at FW ,and 1 in 7 at MS , is Asian . The number for FW will go up to near 1 in 4 when the new MGM casino section is opened . 20% of MS customers are Asian . Over 33% of FW%26#39;s . When they open the new MGM casino the FW #%26#39;s will increase to over 40% , more than a dozen times the Asian population of CT .

FW agressively seeks out the Hong Kong Market while MS does not . FW sponsors 3 Asian Parades ; in NYC, Boston and Lowell .

Both advertise in Chinese magazines and newspapers and hand out glossy flyers in Asian neighborhoods . Most of the bused in players from the Asian markets are immigrants and have poor ( if any) English skills . They find gambling to be one of the few entertainment options for them in the US .

Now that MGM is affiliated with FW ( and will have access to their database ) will they try to more agressively try to bring the Asian market to Atlantic City where they control 40% of the casino market ? WIll they make one of the 4 casinos in AC an Asian Destination . I was told by a worker in Bally%26#39;s Wild West ( I don%26#39;t want to say who , but he hears a lot .) that the Wild West was going to be torn down after the holidays to make room for a Casino hotel that was ';Going to be just for the Asian%26#39;s . Asian entertainment , Asian restaurants , you know , the whole bit .'; Anyone hear anything else about this ? Do you think that AC will improve it%26#39;s bus comps to lure the Asian market from NYC ( and Philly ? ) . Will they only give the upgrade to buses leaving from Chinatown ?

There are other markets which no one seems to cater to : e.g. Gay , Over 50 , Singles over 30 , All other ethnicities , etc . They say that one reason is that Asians coming into this country are already heavily indoctrinated to a gambling enviroment . Their home countries have extensive gambling as entertainment activities with everything from cockfighting to Pachinko .

How would non-Asians feel about regularly visiting an Atlantic City casino that had a 40% , or maybe even 70% , Asian base ?

At what percentage would it become uncomfortable ( too Asian centered ) 35% ? , 50% ? I%26#39;m really curious . This has nothing to do with prejudice . Just how much a casino can cater to a particular group , be it Asian , gay, senior citizens , etc . before it turns off the general population . I assume different groups would have different thresholds . I have heard many people complain about the unofficial ';gay day'; at Disneyland . I%26#39;m suprised there ins%26#39;t a ';gay day '; in AC .

Will AC start targeting Asians ?

MGM will have an affiliation with Foxwoods, but it is Harrahs that controls 40% of the AC casinos. I don%26#39;t believe MGM has any connection with any AC casinos (but I could be wrong).

I personally don%26#39;t care if the casinos are 99% Asian. I go there to gamble, not make small talk.

Will AC start targeting Asians ?

Ambrva , my mistake MGM is associated with Borgota , not Harrah%26#39;s Properties .( At least I%26#39;m pretty sure they still are .) But the premise remains the same . Will Borgota , Harrah%26#39;s or someone else target Asians ?

Truth is , I do go to AC for ';small talk '; - Drinking , dancing , shows, shops, etc . more than for the gambling . I find I prefer spending money on the ponies or sports when I bet heavy . This because a bit of knowledge can turn the odds in your favor . And you can get a longer ';show'; for your money . Also I%26#39;m also only 1 1/2 hours away from AC . So the slots are not an unusual activity for me . I like bartenders I can shoot the breeze with and bar patrons I have something in common with .

Also interesting , I found that the Asian market for gambling is much more male oriented across all age ranges .

And it seems that the Asians share MY view -lol . They won%26#39;t come just to gamble . They want ASIAN food , entertainment, dealers , clubs , etc .

Oh Taj already has. Opened an Asian Noodle Bar and built a new minibaccarat and paigow pit!! They also have a lot of entertainment with Asian performers.

Showboat has an Asian gaming area, too, but the minimums are high. I mean, I like playing Pai Gow Poker and realize you push a lot but I still don%26#39;t want to play for a min of $25 a hand!

Doesn%26#39;t Caesars now have hosts specifically for Asians? I seem to recall ACMama being assigned one sorta %26#39;by accident%26#39;. Apologies if I%26#39;m remembering wrong.

That said, the presence of a Chinese food place doesn%26#39;t constitute catering in my book. Lots of people like Chinese food and so it%26#39;s in every casino%26#39;s best interests to have at least one.

Personally I wish more had Indian restaurants! Anyone know anything about the one in the Taj?

Hope So, I Love Asian Women i went out with a Chinese girl for quite a while and was engaged to a Filipino girl. Asian girls are awesome. AC needs more LOL

CHEERS !!!!!!!!

Its not a run of the mill ';chinese'; restaurant. Its really Asian and does not serve chinese food as we kow it--certainly not chowmein. Definitely more real than americanized. I also always wonder about the Indian restaurant there. I love Indian food but I wouldnt want to be the first person to try it. Maybe we should start a new topic to see if anyone has eaten there?

How does the Taj%26#39;s new noodle bar compare menu-wise to N.O.W. (Noodles of the World) at the Borg?

I cant help with that as Ive never been to the Borg!

I agree that AC has been targeting Asians . The Hilton gets 20% of it%26#39;s table revenue form Asians , and 3% of the slot revenue . ( Probably the highest in AC , but about half that of Foxwoods) 1 in 5 of Hilton%26#39;s employees are Asian . They say the Asian Market does not spend much outside the gambling . Mainly in the Noodle Bars . Entertainment and lounges are still geared towards ';American'; tastes . Football on the big screens , English speaking bands , and headliners . And mostly American and European restaurants . They don%26#39;t care much for things outside the casino mainly due to cultural differences and language barriers .

The Casbah Dance Club ( Taj ) in an effort to boost sagging attendance has reached out to the Asian Market . But they are now noticing that it is mostly Asian males that are coming , which creates other problems . Hilton runs buses specifically for the Chinatown Market in NYC .I wonder how these comps and prices compare to Acadamy or Greyhound ?

The trend seems to be to make Asian Gaming Pits and place them away from the main casino . The Hilton has placed it on the second floor .

allure, like I said before,I agree with you 100% on this Asian thing. It will be like Vegas shortly,you%26#39;ll have a hard time finding an American T.V. channel.
