We have reservations at the Sands for the School Board convention Oct 24-26 and have heard some horror stories about the property. Any recommendations in what part of the Sands the rooms might be in better condition?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Room @ Sands Help
The best help I can offer is that someone in the School Board office might need to do a little more homework. The Sands is closing in a few weeks, as has been reported in most New Jersey newsmedia for the past few months. Sands is the smallest casino in AC, with the most outdated facilities. Farewell events are taking place, and the workers are planning for, or looking for, new employment. Anyone%26#39;s guess what this will mean for your stay. (For what it%26#39;s worth I have a relative who works at Sands.)
I assume your stay is paid by the job, as there should have been a lot of better prices to be had in AC--unless you got a closeout special.
That said, the Sands has some flavor of early casino days in AC. I %26amp; My fellow ';conventioneers'; have had many good times there. If that%26#39;s not enough, Sands is connected to Bally%26#39;s and Ceasar%26#39;s, and a short hop to Resorts, Taj and Showboat. The location is about as good as you can get in AC, even though it is a little set back from the Boardwalk. Some people have loved staying at Sands, some have not. Some like the Madison House rooms, some don%26#39;t. Some folk seem more concerned about how far the walk is from their car or to casino, some mostly care about the room. The condition of a room right now depends more upon the effort of cleaning workers, who will be gone soon, than which building. All are still hopefully passable for anyone who%26#39;s travelled a bit. Shouldn%26#39;t be a problem at all for an Eagle fan. The Swingers bar in the middle of Sands can be fun, and probably all School Board members need. (I%26#39;ve been to quite a few School Board meetings in NJ, etc.) LOL
It would be nice if you could post back here about your experience.
Say Goodby to Sands and Have a Great Convention in AC!
Room @ Sands Help
I stayed in the Sands Tower Rooms a few trips ago and it was like a nice Best Western type room. No complaints at all. Ask them at check in if they have any upgrades available as they will be closing their doors not long after your stay so maybe they will do that for you.
CHEERS!!!!!!
EagleFans,Cant say it any better than easydave.Like he said they will close down in a few weeks and the condition will depend on if the help that is left care about a place that will be gone shortly.
