Keeshond

Hey,

Was thinking about you and hoping you all didn%26#39;t drown or blow away down in Cape May this weekend.

Please let me know how your trip was and how the dogs enjoyed it. I%26#39;d love to read about how well-received they were in the places you opted to take them to.

Best regards,

Lori

Hi Lori! What a wonderful trip! It could not have been better. Yep, the weather on Tues was awful. The ferry trip was rocky, but I love boats and ran around the decks with a raincoat on and still had fun. The kees stayed in the car with my husband on the boat. When we got to NJ, it stopped raining and the sun tried to come out. Got to the Marquis and checked in about 3:00pm. And don%26#39;t believe any of the bad reviews about this place. Everyone was so friendly from the desk folks to the super breakfast waiters. I was in a Victorian suite(rm 114 ocean view) and it was so nice. Not huge, but really nice. All the rooms had dogs (except for 1 cat) and everyone was super. I was in my room the first night and next door gave me her key in case her 2 started barking when they went out. I baked homemade biscuits and handed them out to all the dog folks, so everyone met and helped each other. The more expensive suites with a pool view (I think they are CM suites ) actually have a small fenced in area for your dog!

The highlight for the dogs was Sunset Beach-It was super and 2 of my 3 went in the H2o. We had a blast. They were welcomed everywhere at Sunset Beach. The Grille is not open for dinner anymore, so the dogs can go for lunch. The flag ceremony is beautiful and moving and was so well attended. And the sunset is stunning.

I didn%26#39;t realize that the CM boardwalk is just the asphalt area next to the dunes, so I walked my dogs there everyday and noone said a word. I was looking for a regular boardwalk (;0)! Woops!

Our favorite time was early am and late pm when we walked up and down Beach Dr. and just enjoyed ourselves. Be sure to go down Ocean and stop in at Wiskers ( about 3 blocks down from the Marquis) Super pet store, dogs welcome and great employees.

The Cape May Point Park is also very welcoming and we walked around the lighthouse. It was beautiful and interesting.

Our ferry trip back was so relaxing and I took the boys to the 3rd level deck and we watched the gulls and CM fade into the distance.

So sad, but hopefully we will get back soon.

Please ask away if you guys have any questions.

Hi Sandi -

That%26#39;s awesome. I%26#39;m so glad to read this. I was thinking about you with the weather, and was hoping it wasn%26#39;t a total washout for you. I%26#39;m not sure I understood about the boarwalk, though. What exactly were you looking for? What dunes? LOL! You lost me!

Thanks so much for this great post. It made me even more excited about heading down with Sparky. (And I%26#39;m really looking forward to it already.)

We%26#39;ve been in Whiskers a time or two, but I%26#39;m definitely going to take a look in there again.

Did you have a chance to get over to Washington Square Mall or out to any dinners?

I was married at The Washington Inn last year. And we%26#39;re still in contact with the events manager there. He made reservations for us for the Saturday night, and the woman at the Inn we%26#39;re staying at has agreed to Doggy Sit, or even just stop in to check on Sparks while we%26#39;re having dinner. She%26#39;s been great so far and I%26#39;ve seen good reviews about the Inn - so that%26#39;s good. We considered switching to MdL - but the prices were a bit higher than we were willing to pay right now. I never knew that they had outdoor areas especially for the dogs, though - that%26#39;s awesome.

Thanks again!

Hi Lori! Boy, I%26#39;m really missing CM right now. I just have to get back there soon (;0)!

I saw references to the boardwalk and thought it would be like the Wildwood boardwalk. CM has a walkway between Beach Dr. and the sand dunes. (right along the beach). It is an asphalt walkway which becomes wooded boards down by Morrow%26#39;s Nut House. Across from the Marquis, it is asphalt, so I didn%26#39;t think it was the boardwalk where dogs are not allowed. The last day, I saw a painted sign on the asphalt that said no dogs allowed. It was very faded and not really noticeable .Woops!!

And no, I didn%26#39;t get out to dinner. I hate eating out and we just did easy stuff like pizza. (try Louis- it%26#39;s great). I just can%26#39;t waste my vacation time sitting in a restaurant. I know, I%26#39;m odd! I do the same thing in NY. Everyone else tries a nice restaurant, I get a hotdog from the vendor and shop!

Your B%26amp;B sounds great. How nice that she watch the dog for you.

I want to go back!!!!!

Have an ice day! Sandi

I forgot to ask - did the doggies get to wear their sunglasses?

Hi Lori! You bet and did they look cool! So many folks took their pictures. I had my 2 boys in the H2O at Sunset beach with life jackets and glasses. Too funny.

My husband and I loved CM so much we are thinking about buying a condo(:0)!!

When are you going?

Have an ice day!

Awww. That%26#39;s awesome. If you still have my email and you took pix of the dogs w/the glasses, please send one. I%26#39;d love to see it.

Joe and I love Cape May, too. (Obviously, we got married there!) We%26#39;ll be going the weekend of 9/29. We%26#39;re both leaving work early on Friday and hope to be in town by 3-3:30.

Do you think you%26#39;ll be going back soon? Were there any condos you had in mind?

Have a great day!

Hi Lori! I hope you have a great weekend. Let us know how the Mason is with your pup. Is this his first trip?

We are trying to get back the weekend before Thanksgiving. I need to be in Northern NJ for Thanksgiving, so I%26#39;%26#39;m thinking about spending a few days before that. I want to see what the cape is like in the cold and we want to look at a few condos. it%26#39;s either a condo by the beach or a house on the point. Thoughts?

Have a great time!

Hi,

I just realized that my last post was deceiving. We%26#39;re not going until next weekend. Sorry for confusion.

We rescued Sparky from a shelter in May - so this absolutely is his first %26#39;vacation%26#39; with us. I hope he enjoys it half as much as we want him to! What he did in his prior life is a mystery. He might have been well-traveled - or not at all.

And, I guess my vote would be for the condo on the beach. But that%26#39;s just me. The closer to the water, the better - no matter what time of year. Actually, I think I find the ocean even more theraputic in the winter months. It%26#39;s so quiet and peaceful.

Keep me posted on your planning progress - that%26#39;s very exciting stuff.

I%26#39;ll post again on 10/2 and let you know how our weekend in Cape May was.

Take care!

Thanks Lori, looking foward to hearing about your trip. Hope you have a wonderful time !

Have an ice day!

Hi Lori! Do tell! How was your trip and how did Sparky do?

Have an ice day!
