Trip Report - Nick Lachey concert and birthday celebration

We had a wonderful time.

Drove down from CT last Saturday, brought our friends (Pat hadn%26#39;t been to AC in 10 years or so, and it was her daughter%26#39;s first time) to the Quarter for lunch, and to check out the stores. The kids wanted to eat at Corky%26#39;s. My black and blue salad was SO delicious!!! Ummm, wish I had one right now. They windowshopped while I gave back my comps to the Trop.

Then we checked into Bally%26#39;s, got a room in the Claridge Tower, which turned out to be fine, it was very convenient for us to just take the elevator to the 8th floor and use the pool and fitness equipment. And I like stopping in the Garden portion of the Claridge to try my Wheel of Fortune machines, on my way to Bally%26#39;s and the WWW. I like going down to gamble at 5 in the morning, while the others are sleeping, this way I get to try any slot machine I want, it%26#39;s so empty in the casinos at that time.

We did the Rain Forest Cafe for my birthday lunch (our friends%26#39; request, they had never eaten there). Again, the food was good, and my daughters surprised me with a volcano birthday cake, with singing waitresses. Well, sort of surprised me (mom, don%26#39;t you have to go to the bathroom?) Anything to get me away so they could tell the waitress. I actually had tears in my eyes when they brought the cake and sang. My 2 sisters and my mom have very recently (this year) been diagnosed with breast cancer, so it was very easy to make a wish while blowing out the candle.

We checked into Caesar%26#39;s, and I told the receptionist that it was my birthday and I was having a hard time dealing with getting older, and therefore I was requesting a room in the Centurion Tower. thanks, guys, it worked. she muttered something about waiving a $50 upgrade charge, but whatever. We had to wait for the room, not a problem, as I wanted to walk down to the Taj to use my birthday comps. Beautiful weekend to walk the boardwalk, we certainly did our share.

For the 1/2 hr. I played at the Taj (everyone else looked for shells on the beach), it was good. I always like leaving with more money.

Our room at Caesar%26#39;s was beautiful. First time we stayed there. It is a hike to get to the Tower, though. The slots were good, I had the most luck with the .50 ones.

Okay, the concert. It was to start at 8, so Anna and I took a taxi over to the Borgata, arriving around 6:25. (again, thanks to the posters about not taking our car on a Saturday night). We promptly went upstairs to wait in line. At 6:30, the line was already down the corridor, up another, down another around the bend, I couldn%26#39;t believe how long it was. 99% girls of course, all ages, pre-teen up to 40%26#39;s. We had standing tickets, and that turned out to be great. We were about 20 feet from the stage. I actually felt sorry for the folks that had seats, as they were situated pretty far back from the stage. We had a great view.

Dirty Blonde was the first opening act, and I thought they were a great band. It%26#39;s been Years since I%26#39;ve attended a concert. Brought back memories when I felt the bass pounding so loud I felt it in my chest.

Joanna sang next, my daughter really liked her, but I wasn%26#39;t so thrilled with her singing.

Finally, to the relief of the thousands of females in the room, Nick Lachey came on. At 9:30. He was a great performer, I was impressed with him. His singing, his stage presence. The band was top-notch. It was good.

We got back to Caesar%26#39;s at 11:45. I was too tired to go downstairs, so tried the slots in the early morning. Again the .50 ones were the best. I stayed for 2 hrs. and broke even, thanks to a 9-line machine.

Checked out, went back to the Taj for lunch, to use up the food comps. I did see the new noodle bar, and definitely want to try it out next time.

Happy Birthday! Glad you had a fun trip. I play at the Taj and I agree-that Noodle Bar looks great-but theres always a line!

Thanks. Actually, the line wasn%26#39;t too bad on Monday, around 12 noon.

jean8,Thanks for the great report.Mrs. Who and my prayers are with your Mom and two Sisters who have this terrible cancer bit.Mrs. Who just went through it and is all done with the Cemo and Radition and she seems to be doing quite well now.Tell them to try to keep a nice Positive attitude no matter how down this terrible thing gets you.I know this is what got my wife through it.She kept saying we WILL beat this.Any help we can be,just ask!

What a great B Day, looks like everything went your way this trip and you had alot of fun. Glad you enjoyed AC so much.

Were you able to do some browsing in The Walk stores as that is also a nice area and their building another phase to it?

The thing i liked is that there was nothing negative in your report which shows that you enjoyed and didn%26#39;t compare AC to Vegas as alot of people do therefore feeling somewhat disappointed in AC.

Great Trip Report !!

CHEERS !!!!

Terminator - I%26#39;ve never been to Las Vegas, altho my brothers keep trying to get me to fly there. I am very comfortable with AC, don%26#39;t mind driving down from CT, love staying at the casinos for nothing, and getting comped for food.

AC has so much over our Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, who give you Nothing, compared with AC. I keep getting offers from MS that I can stay there for $79 or $99 or $109. Why pay that much when I can stay at a very nice casino in AC and only pay the room tax? The slots are much looser in AC, also.

Who - I%26#39;m so glad the mrs. is over the chemo and radiation treatments. Great!! She went through so much, didn%26#39;t she? She%26#39;s lucky to have you by her side for support.

My mom had a lumpectomy, she%26#39;s in stage 2, and just started taking a daily pill. Because she%26#39;s 85, we (she and I and the doctor) decided against any treatments for her.

My sister was diagnosed off the bat with stage 3, so is going through the heavy duty chemo, and will have treatments for 60 weeks. Surgery is scheduled for January/February.

thanks for your concerns, and I hope the readers don%26#39;t have a problem with our discussion, as 1 in every 8 women Will unfortunately come down with breast cancer at some point. And this is Breast Cancer awareness month.

Good luck to all.

And while it is much more uncommon , as many as 1 in 850 MEN will come down with breast cancer . YES MEN ! And they are often late to find a symptom , and have it diagnosed .

Allure - I%26#39;m a freelance paralegal. I work for over 70 different attorneys here in CT. One of my male attorneys had breast cancer, and eventually died from it. He was 60. Great guy, great trial attorney.

Just wishing you all the best with your family members as i have first hand experience with many family members and cancer. It%26#39;s a real tough go so try to stay strong and God Bless.

Thanks, Terminator. I%26#39;m sure we all know someone with cancer. My brother died from skin cancer. It%26#39;s the pits.

Jean
