Restaurants on the Garden State Pkwy

Our family often travels down to the Atlantic City area from Ct. and we are looking for restaurants that are just off the parkway exits. We are looking for chains and independent restaurants that will have a varied menu and would appeal to kids. Thanks for your help!

Restaurants on the Garden State Pkwy

It depends on how far into the trip you want to stop, but I can tell you about exits 105 (Tinton Falls), 82 (Toms River), and 63 (LBI). They are all easy on/easy off (i.e., you get on and off near the same spot), and they put you on a major roadway with lots of choices. Just to the left off exit 105 is Applebee%26#39;s. If you go straight at the exit about a mile up Route 36E is the Monmouth Mall, where you will find Chili%26#39;s and TGI Fridays. Both are free standing and have their own parking.

Exit 82 (about an hour from AC) puts you on Route 37, a major highway with one of just about everything - fast food, chains, local pizza, you name it. Head east for the most options.

Exit 63, at which point you will be around 45 mins out, puts you onto RT 72 which is the road leading into Long Beach Island. Again, head east and you will have your choice of chains.

A word of caution as you venture onto our crazy NJ highways, you will be required to negotiate at least one of the dreaded jughandles we use in lieu of common sense around here. They are often the only way to get to the other side of the road. Just follow the parkway signs and you%26#39;ll be fine.

Good post. I am so darned sick and tired of the Burger Kings at all the rest stops on the GSP. We also drive down from CT

If you get off the Rt. 9 -Smithville Exit on the GSP ( It%26#39;s right over the bridge around exit 50 ) you can take Rt. 9 into Rt. 30 into AC . Takes about 10-15 minutes longer than GSP to Rt 30 . You will pass the Historic Towne of Smithville . One large nice family restaurant ( Smithville Inn) and lots of little places for Pizza and such . It has rides and shops and a nice Carousel . You will be about 30 -40 minutes to AC from here . On the way to AC from there you will pass a (somewhat hidden) shopping mall with a small Italian restaurant ( Vinci%26#39;s ?) .

Watch out for ducks!

Or is it chickens?

I have family in Smithville so we passed this on the way to their place.

For those of you that didn%26#39;t get it : There is a small lake at Smithville and there are often ducks and geese ( and deer) crossing Rt.9 .

Thank you everyone for all of the ideas! Luvbreezes- I never knew there was a Monmouth Mall close to the GSP. I looked at their website and they have quite a few places to eat and I get the bonus of checking out a new mall, thanks for the tip.

I%26#39;m still hoping to find other people that know of restaurants between exits 80 and 168 on the GSP, so if your out there please let me know. Thanks!

Is monmouth mall a far drive from AC ? It looks like a nice mall with good selections.

CHEERS !!!!!

I think Monmouth Mall is up near Red Bank. If that%26#39;s the case, I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s 45-60 min north of AC.

If someone could give me directions from AC that would be great.

Thx

CHEERS !!!!!!!

The Monmouth Mall is in Eatontown, NJ, right off Exit 105 on the GSP. To get there you simply exit at 105 for Route 36E, and just head straight up 36E about one mile. You will see the mall on your right hand side (you can%26#39;t miss it). You can also follow the signs to Monmouth Park Race Track - you can%26#39;t get to the track without passing the mall. It%26#39;s a very nice mall, and the best part of shopping in NJ is that clothes and shoes are TAX FREE!!! It%26#39;s not a bad place to drop some of your AC winnings.

Have fun,
